How does Bizum work for customers?
Bizum users can send and receive money instantly or pay for purchases using their smartphones. Customers can link their IBAN to their Bizum account to quickly complete purchases online and off, without ever sharing personal details with merchants.
Once a customer has linked their bank account to their Bizum profile, it’s available for all future purchases, making the payment process faster and more convenient across sales channels.
How Bizum online payments work:
- MONEI automatically detects if the customer is located in Spain and shows the Bizum button on the payment page
- Customer clicks the Bizum button at checkout
- Customer gets a push notification from their banking app
- Customer confirms the payment in their banking app
How Bizum physical payments work:
- You create a digital QR payment or payment request
- Customers scans the QR code or you enter their mobile number for payment requests
- Customer selects Bizum on the mobile payment page (QR code payment)
- Customer gets a push notification from their banking app

How do I activate the Bizum payment method?
Please contact support to configure the Bizum payment method in your account. A support agent will respond to your email within 48 hours.
What are the transaction fees for Bizum?
Transaction fees for Bizum depend on whether it's an online payment or a physical payment, and your MONEI plan: - With the MONEI X plan (online payments), the platform fee for Bizum payments is 1.34% + €0.34 per successful transaction and the acquiring fee (which gets deducted from your payouts) is €0.17 per successful transaction. - With the MONEI PLUS plan (online payments + payments orchestration), the platform fee for Bizum payments is 1.34% + €0.34 per successful transaction. - With the MONEI Pay plan (physical payments), the platform fee for Bizum payments is 0.9% per successful transaction.
For how long can I refund Bizum transactions?
Bizum transactions can be refunded within 365 days after the initial transaction has been processed.
Where is Bizum available?
Bizum is a Spanish peer-to-peer (P2P) payment app that customers can connect with their Spanish bank account (IBAN) to send payments to friends or complete online purchases.
How do Bizum payments work for consumers?
After your customer fills out their details on the payment page they will go through the following payment flow: - A waiting screen will load - The customer will get a push notification from their banking app - Then the customer can complete the payment in their banking app
Is there a Bizum consumer spending limit?
Yes. We apply a maximum spending limit for Bizum payments made from consumers to businesses. - Consumers can spend up to €1500 per Bizum transaction. Any amount beyond this threshold per transaction will be rejected. - Consumers can spend a maximum of €4000 per month online with Bizum.
What do Bizum transaction types "SALE" and "AUTH" mean?
Bizum has two different transaction types that MONEI has no control over. - SALE refers to the automatic capture transaction type and generally there is no friction. - AUTH refers to the pre-authorization transaction type and doesn’t ensure we can capture the payment amount. From Bizum's side, the amount is not frozen and the customer's balance is not checked. So a successful transaction is not guaranteed.
