MONEI successfully completes pioneering tests of the Digital Euro with the ECB

- MONEI has successfully participated in the first Digital Euro tests, boosting automated payments in Europe.
- The Spanish fintech has been authorized by the ECB as one of the few companies to test the Euro Digital infrastructure.
MONEI, the fintech that drives business growth with innovative payment solutions, has taken a strategic step towards Europe's financial future by collaborating with the European Central Bank (ECB) on the Digital Euro project.
The company has successfully completed a series of pioneering tests to verify the execution of conditional payments, using a closed and highly secure environment simulating a DESP, specifically designed to test this new form of European digital money.
MONEI was one of the companies recognized as eligible by the ECB to test the Digital Euro infrastructure in a simulated environment that replicated real operations. In these tests, the company provided its expertise in digital payments to evaluate how the Digital Euro would behave in everyday use cases such as peer-to-peer (P2P) payments, e-commerce purchases or physical point-of-sale payments.
The results have been highly satisfactory, validating MONEI's technological capacity to integrate into the core of this revolutionary initiative. The tests allowed simulating real operations with Euro Digital, confirming the robustness of the infrastructure and laying the groundwork for the next phase of development.
Currently, MONEI continues to work closely with the ECB to implement new functionalities through private APIs that will allow the execution of conditional transactions, also known as automatic payments. This development will enable transactions that are automatically triggered when certain predefined conditions are met, opening the door to high-impact applications such as smart contracts, grant automation, pay-as-you-go or public and private incentive management.
In the words of Alex Saiz Verdaguer, CEO and founder of MONEI, “The Digital Euro is not just an evolution of cash, it is a revolution in how we understand and use money. At MONEI we are proud to actively contribute to building that vision of the future together with the ECB”.
With this collaboration, MONEI not only reaffirms its position as a key player in the European financial ecosystem, but also places itself at the forefront of a new era in which digital money will be smarter, safer and more versatile than ever before.
This milestone consolidates the fintech's commitment to innovation and the digital transformation of the financial system, aligning with the European strategy of technological sovereignty and modernization of payments.
